Skeleton Boy

~~

I find it so fascinating, the skeleton can be represented as both something very beautiful or something horrific and sinful.  The skeleton is majorly known as the parader of death. The one who allows humans to see the death within a decomposed body. However they are contradictory, as a skeleton in itself is immortal, never breaking down, all preserved in the pressed down heaps of earth.  They lay there, silently and gracefully. Allowing there soul to be freed, and their bones to remain.  Even though they may look like a former human or animal, they bring no harm. So many films and stories created around the idea that skeletons are ready to kill in the dead of night. When we all known deep in our brains that they are nothing more than calcium and protein. They cannot kill. So why are we so afraid of them? Why do we allow our inner feelings affect the way we see these harmless fragments of life?

Afterall we all have them inside of us, right now as I type I'm using my phalange bones (Hooray for Pheobe Bouffay!) in my fingers. Bones are just functional, they keep our bodies upright and protect our internal organs, so why do we see them a horror symbol. A sign of evil, some may say.

However not all humans or holidays are surrounded on the theme of skeletones as a bad creature. Holidays such as Day of the Dead celebrate their deceased relatives and life in general, hosting parties in cemetries and eating skeleton themed food. So Not everyone believe that skeletons are evil, heck I think they're amazing. And even though I do get scared of seeing 'zombies' and what not it does not change my mind and make me believe that skeletons can harm me. WHen I'm only I'm sure I'll have plenty of skulls lying all over the place. Ofcourse not human skulls, now that would be weird!

The beautiful, enchanted hands of Florence Welch, the iconic birdcage and mass of glod and silver rings almost submerging every finger on her hands. She is so beautiful in the quirkiest and simplist of ways.

Infinity

'Patrick started driving really fast, and just before we got to the tunnel, Sam stood up, and the wind turned her dress into ocean waves, When we hit the tunnel, all the sound got scooped up into a vacuum, and it was replaced by a song on the tape player. A beautiful song called "Landslide." When we got out of the tunnel, Sam screamed this really fun scream, and there it was. Downtown. Lights on buildings and everything that makes you wonder. Sam sat down and started laughing. I started laughing. And in that moment, I swear we were infinate.' The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

~~

Moments like that appear orgasmic in books. I know the feeling, it happened once, and it happens everytime I play the same song over and over again. The feeling that your whole body it cemented to the ground, but you head feels as light as air. The moment this surge trickles down from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet, and makes you feel full/whole. You feel like breathing as deeply as you can and perhaps crying with joy, with such heavy passion that you could vomit. I had that feeling once, the feeling of being infinate, it hurts as you do want to scream and cry, however remain serine and calm. It's a tricky feeling, however, there's no other feeling like it. I can't show you the song as you won't get the same feeling. But there was one song that brought back the esscence of this emotion and they will be performing at 2000 Trees:

Have you ever had it?

Boys boys boys

~~

Ahh the simple attractiveness of boys in shirts, I mean I'm all open to free will and people can do what they want, but from my perspective it's always occured to me that boys in shirrts are a lovely mix. Not just the simple cliche button up edgey look, I'm talking open buttons, one button, ties, bows, scarves, anything, you boys look good in 'em! I suppose it's not just shirts it's alot of things that get my heasrt racing at the sight of a well attired man but shirts, are so dapper you could not get more groovy. It can be checkered, plain, stripey, spotty, floral, bright or dull, any style does it for me! This may sound like some kind of horney post, but it ain't. It's adressing the male youth of today to get fashionable man! Now it sounds completely shallow, but I mean it boys. Even though male clothing shops can be hard to come by that are affordable, especially in cheltenham. But trust me, do with the basics. Here I'll make a list:

1. Breton tops - so simple but are beautiful!
2. Blazers - I'm not talking 1980's I'm talking anything, tweed, grey, blazers look snazz
3. Jumpers - Let's be honest a boy in a jumper is lovely, go out and get yourself a nice simple one that can be taken casual or 'formal'.
4. skinnies/straight leg jeans - strut your legs boys, morst of you have lovely ankles so flaunt them, meaning if you're daring, try out shorts!
5. Deck shoes - They are so amazing, will last you so an investment and plus they look great with almost everything, a real 'every boy' kind of shoe.
6. Vans - Again may be expensive, but think of it as an investment! They will last you a shit loada time.
7. Cardigan - Some of you may think this is 'gay', however just pick up a simple grey one, for light layers and to add 'dimension' to your outfit. For those of you who wanna go all vintage, pick up yourself a patterned one/cable knit. No problem with going a little wild.
8. A dad shirt - Sounds weird but hear me out, every dad needs a hideous shirt, much like every boy needs something insane in his wardrobe. Go out to a vintage fair/highstreet store and pick out yourself something you KNOW not everyone will have, wacky or bright, just try and get something to spice up your outfit!
9. Denim Jacket - Preferably Levi's, they are an amazing statement piece, and again come casual or 'formal' they look good with almot everything.
10. The man bag - And before you get all 'that's gay'on me, let me just say this. Bags. Are. Cool. Just get yourself an over the shoulder bag and chuck all your shit in it for the day. Trust me you don't look silly boys, you look good, plus saves you from being robbed eh? (And for those who wanna try out a little bit of a vintage flare try a brief case/doctor's bag they catch people's attention and really make you look alternative!)
11.  Desert boots - They. Are. Beautiful.  A couple of my friends wear them and they are a great alternative to the usual daps, however aren't as in your face as winkle pickers!
12. A hat - Make it casual, my sister wears alot of stylish bobble hats and they definately add something to her everyday denim jacket and skirt option. Ofcourse, bowler hats, pork pies, baseball caps and flat caps look good! Just for god's sake boys if you're going to get a porker get a shapely one, trust me, sometimes, people can buy porkers and they just are not the right shape/colour.
13. A snazzy belt - studded, batman clasp, diesal, vintage, stripey. Belts can be a really groovy addition to your outfits. Plus keeps the draw outta sight if you catch my drift.
14. Finally, (for those of you who are daring enough) The Creeper Shoes, now this is a tricky one, only certain blokes can pull these bad boys off, they are of the sort who think drainpipes are the baggy side of jeans. Don't try it if you're not confident enough, however a nice alternative are the Doc Marten shoes, they look good and never go out of style trust me!

So those were only a few everyday tips, I know you guys who follow me are 99-100% girls, but get your boyfriend to read this or a friend of yours and try and style them up a bit. I know my list may only appeal to a very small percentage of boys, but for those of you are thinking 'hmm yeah, maybe I should try out these _____, oh and this _____ sounds rad, maybe I should try it out too' Do do! I'm not saying looking good is the only option for you boys, but I think people feel more confident when in clothes they think make them look good, I know I feel tons better when I put on a skirt and adrians on, I feel all 'hip' and happy. So if you're in a piddle then stop by and read my list of some basic essentials you could add to your wardrobe to add a little flare to your everyday wear! Please don't start sending me any comments claiming I'm being too stereotypical or I'm being rude to those boys who don't want to change. This is just my opinion on what I think make a boy look good 'tis all. Happy Monday everyone, and comment saying what you think is good in a man's wardrobe!

Finer Detail

~~

Sometimes it's the small detail that counts in someone's room. Whether it be a selection of tickets collected from over the years bus tickets, concerts, festivals, or boxes from collectables to cardboard. Fine detail can really tell you alot about that individual. Alot of my friends are like that. For example if you go to Daisy's (my friend) room, she has a whole shelf dedicated to the small things that she's collected over the years. Small crystal animals, dolls house furnishings, trinket boxes with glass beads in them and wooden boxes filled with notes and small bits and pieces she's proudly found over her adverturous years as a child. That whole shelf just displays the type of person she is, and in every nook and cranny describes a little something more about her personality, well to be honest her whole room's like that with her copious amounts of antique jewellery pinned to a vintage french clothes mannequin and her steam punk inspired clothing, it's all in the fine detail that allows you to see her characteristics in more depth.

I think of a room and a sanctury, it should be detailed to the way you want it. Your room is, in a way, beacon in which you can display your greatest interests and allows people to get to know you better. That's why I also like to collect odds things when I go out to car boot sales, charity shops and vintage fairs.  I'm pretty sure I can tell you about every piece in my room, as it all has a miniture history. It can also be a great ice breaker aswell. Nothing excites me more than stepping foot into a new friend's room because it lets me know what they like and how they live. For instance my room, although filled to the high heavens with trinkets, is pretty clean showing that I'm a little bit of a neat freak.

I read an article once talking about the teenage brain and why we obssesively buy posters for our rooms. 'Cause if you think about it, as teenagers the only 'personal' living space we get is our bedrooms, therefore because of our parading personalities we feel it neccesary to override the walls with bands posters, film posters and photography posters, as teenagers posters are a cheap way of decoration therefore, ofcourse we're all going to use them! 'Posters are a much less neuteral form of decoration than prints in that their aim is either to sell or tell you something, which means that if you put up a poster you've got to believe in it. They put a claim on your identity, and therefore are perfect for the stereotypical teen desperate to present an image of themselves to the wider world and to persuade themselves of their own identity.' (Apartamento)

It's true, we all want to become individual, and a room is the only space us teenagers can do it. That's why I think I buy so many trinkets, heck they're like my own personal form of a band poster, as I don't have that many posters in my room, well not your typical posters, apart from a Vampire Weekend one. But I mean come on gimme a break I got it free with a CD!

Saint Valentines

~~

Happy Valentines day everyone, I hope you all got something whether it be a sopppy card from an admirerer or some chocolate from your father.  I'm pretty interested in the origin of the holiday so I decided to do a little research. It all started in the third century after Christ, Valentine was the bishop of Terni (Italy). He performed weddings for couples who were not allowed to get married. They may not have been allowed to get married because the parents did not agree with the connection or because the bridegroom was a soldier or a slave, so the marriage was forbidden. Valentine gave to the married pairs flowers from his garden. That's why flowers play a very important role on Valentine's Day. This did not please the emperor. On February 14, 269 AD, Valentin was beheaded because of his Christian faith. I was also quite intruiged to find that in China, a holiday called Qi Xi is also called "Chinese Valentine's Day", especially by younger people. Qi Xi is traditionally held on the 7th day of the 7th month of the lunar calendar. In recent years, it has become more like Valentine's Day in other countries.

All in all Valetines day goes way back and just because some of you guys may be single on valetines day like I am try not to be bitter towards it eh? There's always someone you know who loves you!

Pretty in Pink

'Sup guys, hope everyone had a devine Saturday, mine was quite lazy and relaxing, watched Pretty in Pink for the second time running today! I must say, Andie has incredible style, I wish I was as creative as she is with her sewing machine, but it got me thinking about money alot, and how much you can save from buying things at charity shops, thrift stores, cheap vintage markets and makin' your own customed clothing. So I was prety impressed with it all. And I love Duckie (The Duck Man) he is so groovy and funny! Plus his clothing is amazing. In fact I have to show you this one clip that makes me smile everytime! He reminds me of my friend Isaac a little, maybe it's their dorkyness or just the fact that they look similar, either way I can't believe Duckie is the guy from Two and a Half Men!

Doesn't it just make you giggle that slightest? Sure makes me.

Run Rabbit Run

~~

Just a couple of shots from some filming I did today, I also took photographs of my friends with the remainder of my polaroid film. I have such a brilliant time, as one of the I hadn't really hung out with for ages, and the other is sort of a new friend so it was so nice just getting along, filming and getting my art done all in one go. It was pretty chilly though and my panda bear back pack's zip broke so I'm going to have to do some DIY to fix it. And I got the cutest picture of my friend wearing him. The reason behind it was when I was filming I had to walk backwards and my camera was in the way so I couldn't wear my back pack on frontwards so my little buddy opted to wear him! Was successful though, and I had a brilliant time. I love friends, what do you guys love right now?

Bless 'im...

C O L D

~~

I went on a shoot with my friend Hannah at Hannah Williams Photography for a bit in the morning yeasterday. And it was bloody freezing. I'm not even joking, I never thought that I would be standing in a feild in a pair of shorts and a bra in the midst of winter changing into different clothes! The reason we went so early was because of the sun, we thought we would get loads of backlight shots, but by the time we got up there it was all cloudy and chilly.
Anyway, we took the polaroid and had a couple of shots with it up there, and these were the results. I prefer the right one as I think the flash was at a minimal and al the colours worked well together, although my face looks a little sombre...
Sadly through the lack of internet she hasn't uploaded any of the photos on her facebook page, but y' never know, something groovy may happen over the next couple of days so keep your eyes peeled if anything does spruce up! Happy February everyone, I turn 16 in 11 days! Exciting shiiiz.

Girl crush

~~

Have you guys ever had the question on who your girl crush is? Well as my friends and I were discussing over lunch the other day it got me really thinking. My immediate response was Beth Jeans Houghton, however now that I think it over through and through I've realised that Florence Welch plays a big part on me aswell. She's not the type of person who I would sate if I was a boy, however she is someone who I wish was my older sister. She is so lively, and would take me to the most amazing places in New York and Tokyo when she went on tour. Watching her laugh and dance infront of me and chatting to her in-between her recording her songs would be incredible. A day with Florence Welch would be wonderful. Not a day with her working, but a free day she may have when touring in another country, a day when we can go shopping together, have icecream in the park and go trapsing through the markets in the city centre. She truely is an inspiring woman, and everytime I look at her I think about how wonderful she would be to be around. Florence Welch I salute your beauty and your originality! You are truly an inspiration. So, who are your girl crushes?

Gentle Young Men

~~

The sinister smoke and the harsh cut silhouette, making our young gentlemen seem in control and powerful. Their lounging and loitering provocing the image of laziness and their idea of "waiting", looking at their image and re-adjusting their hair, vanity. However the smoke. So dangerous, so poisoness. Sending mixed messages of their overall image. What Gentle Young Men...
